NEW:New oak marks scout
centenary |
|
A YOUNG oak tree was planted in a recreation
ground in Beckenham to help mark the centenary of
the scouting movement.

The Beckenham District Cub Scouts got their
hands dirty and helped plant the sapling in
Croydon Road Recreation Ground in Beckenham, on
March 14.
Youngsters were joined by the Mayor of
Bromley’s consort, Martyn (corr) Reddin to
celebrate 100 years of scouting.
Scout leader Stephen Tickner said: “This was
part of a series of events that have taken place
over the previous twelve months to mark an event
that happened a little over a 100 years ago when
Robert Baden-Powell took a small group of boys
camping.
“I think it’s brilliant that the Beckenham
District Cub Scouts were able to work with Bromley Council and plant a tree
in our local park.”
